In the wild, a cougar mother spends the first 1-2 years of her cub's life honing those inborn instincts to be used in living on his own... So Messi's instincts went dormant for the most part and he didn't respond to the sturgeon that Sasha brought home... To be fair to Messi... Cougars don't eat fish, or crawfish on a regular basis and he wasn't fed them in the zoo or petting zoo... Regarding the "for the most part" comment... There's an earlier video of Sasha walking Messi after dark in a snow field and Messi appears to focus on something beneath the snow, pounces on it, and eats it with Sasha smiling knowingly at the camera... That's what I meant ! Give Messi a live mouse or rat in a hamster ball and...

She has come across tiny field mice in an old kitchen of mine a few years ago when I lived in a dump of a house. She killed the poor buggars by playing with them!
